This was highlighted in a report by <strong>motor1.com<\/strong>, detailing that it is the first electrified car to score on a global scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jato.com\/spain\/solutions\/jato-analysis-reporting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><strong>analysis of market data by JATO Dynamics<\/strong><\/a> shows that T<strong>esla sold 267,200 Model Y crossovers worldwide <\/strong>during the first three months of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The figure represents <strong>a 69% increase over the same period in 2022<\/strong>. The next closest was the <strong>Toyota Corolla <\/strong>compact car (and its international variants) which sold 256,400 units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-market-movement\"><strong>Market Movement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond <strong>Tesla<\/strong>&#8216;s lead in the top spot, <strong>Toyota <\/strong>has also had a prominent share of electric car sales with models in four of the top five spots. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the <strong>Model Y<\/strong> and <strong>Corolla <\/strong>came the mid-size <strong>Hilux <\/strong>pickup (214,700 units), the <strong>RAV4 <\/strong>compact crossover (211,000) and the <strong>Camry <\/strong>midsize sedan (166,200).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1009\" height=\"554\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/TESLA-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19441\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/TESLA-2.png 1009w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/TESLA-2-300x165.png 300w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/TESLA-2-768x422.png 768w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/TESLA-2-600x329.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1009px) 100vw, 1009px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo: RAV4<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>T<strong>esla sold 747,500 Model Y crossovers in 2022<\/strong>. That figure was <strong>a 91% increase<\/strong> over the previous year&#8217;s sales number, but it was only enough to take third place for electric vehicles in the year-end global sales rankings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was surpassed by the <strong>RAV4 <\/strong>(1.02 million units) and the <strong>Corolla <\/strong>(991,500). The year may not even be half over at this point, but <strong>Tesla<\/strong>&#8216;s most popular model looks in good shape to finish as the world&#8217;s best-selling vehicle, especially given recent sales trends.<br><br>Tesla CEO <strong>Elon Musk<\/strong> predicted Model Y leadership.
