{"id":19812,"date":"2023-06-14T05:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-06-14T10:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=19812"},"modified":"2023-06-13T20:49:24","modified_gmt":"2023-06-14T01:49:24","slug":"uber-pledges-zero-emission-cars-globally-by-2040","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/uber-pledges-zero-emission-cars-globally-by-2040\/","title":{"rendered":"Uber Pledges Zero Emission Cars Globally by 2040"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>With the aim of accelerating the global energy transition, <strong>Uber <\/strong>signed a pledge in London to encourage its drivers to use zero-emission vehicles by 2030 in the United Kingdom and mainland Europe, and by 2040 in all of its markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To achieve its goals, <strong>Uber <\/strong>said it will expand its micro-mobility partnerships in major cities to make it easier for drivers to rent or buy bicycles and electric vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, in countries such as <strong>Spain <\/strong>and <strong>Portugal<\/strong>, it has a pact with <strong>Cooltra<\/strong>, which will offer favorable conditions for them to access mopeds and electric bicycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-multi-platforms-in-action\"><strong>Multi-platforms in Action<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Through its various tools such as <strong>Uber Eats<\/strong>, <strong>the company also plans for member restaurants to use sustainable, recyclable or reusable packaging in 80% of markets in the United States, the United Kingdom and Asia-Pacific by 2025 and 100% worldwide by 2030<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will be enabled through agreements with <strong>Cooltra<\/strong>, <strong>Visa <\/strong>or <strong>Bunzl <\/strong>(a leading green packaging company) and in collaboration with Non-Governmental Organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Restaurants that use sustainable packaging will be recognized with a badge on the app, which will also offer new options to opt for sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Related content: <a href=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/?p=19587\">BorgWarner Expands Investments in Mexico to Promote Electric Mobility<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-established-strategies\"><strong>Established Strategies<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It should be noted that <strong>Uber <\/strong>already announced in 2020 the goal of making its mobility or cab business emission-free on a global scale by 2040, and foresees that in cities such as London drivers will use electric vehicles by 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this regard, it will offer discounts and other incentives to customers who choose &#8220;green&#8221; alternatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>Spain<\/strong>, <strong>Uber <\/strong>announced that, in collaboration with <strong>Aena<\/strong>, which promotes sustainable mobility to and from its airports, it will activate a virtual priority access queue for <strong>Uber Green<\/strong> electric vehicles at the <strong>Adolfo Su\u00e1rez Madrid-Barajas<\/strong> terminal pickup point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, <strong>it will launch a 10% discount for users who wish to make use of this service on their trips to the airport<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Uber Technologies<\/strong> offers, through mobile applications, cab, courier and food delivery services (<strong>Uber Eats<\/strong>), whose sustainability innovations have been presented at an event with the slogan &#8220;Go\/Get Zero&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the aim of accelerating the global energy transition, Uber signed a pledge in London to encourage its drivers to use zero-emission vehicles by 2030 in the United Kingdom and mainland Europe, and by 2040 in all of its markets.
