The increase was 79% in the year-on-year comparison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Research analyst <strong>Abhik Mukherjee<\/strong> noted that<strong> tax credits have played a key role in the increase in electric vehicle sales this year<\/strong>, while conventional passenger vehicle sales remain stable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This increase allowed the United States to overtake Germany to become the second largest electric vehicle market in the world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the North American nation,<strong> battery cars accounted for 81% of all passenger car sales in the country between January and March,<\/strong> while plug-in hybrids accounted for the remaining percentage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-leading-models\"><strong>Leading Models<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The research details that the undisputed leader in the battery-powered vehicle market was <strong>Tesla<\/strong>, which outsold all 18 auto groups combined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Elon Musk<\/strong>&#8216;s company had <strong>a 63% market share of sales, followed by General Motors with a 7.6% share<\/strong>. <strong>Tesla Model Y<\/strong> was the best-selling model, followed by <strong>Tesla Model 3, Chevrolet Bolt EUV, Volkswagen ID.4 <\/strong>and <strong>Chevrolet Bolt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, about <strong>20 models in total offered by Tesla, GM, Ford, Stellantis, Rivian and Volkswagen may be eligible for the tax credit<\/strong>.
