{"id":20878,"date":"2023-07-20T05:05:00","date_gmt":"2023-07-20T10:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=20878"},"modified":"2023-07-19T15:27:46","modified_gmt":"2023-07-19T20:27:46","slug":"chile-fedex-unveils-first-electric-vehicles-in-partnership-with-maxus-and-copec-voltex","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/chile-fedex-unveils-first-electric-vehicles-in-partnership-with-maxus-and-copec-voltex\/","title":{"rendered":"Chile: FedEx Unveils First Electric Vehicles in Partnership with Maxus and Copec Voltex"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In the midst of its global roadmap, <strong>FedEx aims to have a 100% electric fleet by 2040<\/strong>, under renewable energies and sustainable infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>Chile<\/strong>, <strong>FedEx Express<\/strong> presented its first eight electric vehicles that will be integrated into the company&#8217;s pickup and delivery fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Humberto Lira<\/strong>, Vice President of Operations of <strong>FedEx Express<\/strong> in South America, explained that the multinational&#8217;s strategy is based on three pillars: <strong>electromobility, investment in renewable energies and infrastructure for sustainability<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read also:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/the-carga-rapida-initiative-expands-to-strengthen-infrastructure-in-chile\/\"><strong>The \u201c+Carga R\u00e1pida\u201d Initiative Expands to Strengthen Infrastructure in Chile<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-chilean-objectives\"><strong>Chilean Objectives<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The executive explained that the plan in Chile is to <strong>incorporate 48 electric vehicles within 24 months<\/strong>, which is equivalent to 10% of the total fleet of small collection and delivery vehicles in the country. &#8220;<strong>By 2025, 50% of the purchases of these vehicles will be electric<\/strong>,&#8221; said Lira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that the electric fleet was managed through an alliance with <strong>Kaufmann, and consists of Maxus eDeliver 3 vans<\/strong>, with <strong>a range of more than 200 kilometers<\/strong>, an 85 kW electric motor and a load capacity of up to 1,000 kilos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new vehicles will be based at the FedEx Distribution Center in Pudahuel, <strong>the largest FedEx Express distribution center in South America<\/strong>, dedicated to the distribution of small e-commerce packages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking into account the demand for charging in the midst of the company&#8217;s operations, the initiative also considered the installation of 20 supply points in alliance with <strong>Copec Voltex<\/strong>, where electric vehicles will take eight hours to fully charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This alliance with <strong>Copec<\/strong> was given by extension, as it has been our historical fuel supplier, and it was crucial to have the proper infrastructure in electromobility.
