The meeting “Latam Mobility: ConoSur 2023<\/strong>“, which turned the city of Santiago de Chile into the capital of mobility and sustainability in Latin America, was attended by ALD Automotive<\/strong>, an operating leasing and renting company with direct presence in 44 countries and more than 60 through partners<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mauricio Serna<\/strong>, Country Managing Director of ALD Automotive<\/strong>, explained the new business models and Smart Mobility in Chile<\/strong>, during his keynote speech at the meeting organized by Latam Mobility<\/strong>, the largest sustainable mobility community in Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company’s executive began his presentation by indicating that ALD Automotive has 3.3 million vehicles around the world<\/strong>, which makes it the “largest player globally in terms of mobility, as well as in electric vehicles, since it manages 380.000, with data that we convert into information<\/strong>, which serves us to advance the way, and thus serve as support for large multinational companies”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, Serna explained that they currently have a direct presence in Latin America. “We are in Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay<\/strong>; and through partners in Central America and North America. We are a global company that was born in Europe, and we have a presence in almost every country on the continent, so we have a great deal of experience in electromobility issues”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Decision-making Changes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The ALD <\/strong>representative explained that important changes are currently taking place in decision-making that take into account environmental issues, and converge with technology, connectivity, artificial intelligence, and open data for transportation, which in turn generate new alternatives that even move towards collaborative economies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“By the end of this year, almost all leasing companies will have 100% of vehicles connected<\/strong>, and we will have the information, routes, origin, destinations, and we work in collaboration with cities,” said Mauricio Serna<\/strong> during his presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“By 2025, we estimate that 20% of the kilometers that companies will travel will be in shared vehicles<\/strong>. On the other hand, we currently see that large companies in different sectors have 60% of their vehicle time still. It is not only the change in the motorizations, it is necessary to optimize the use in the fleets”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, Serna indicated that vehicle leasing is becoming a service, in which everything that is feasible is being digitized, and what cannot be automated today will be invaluable. “Picking the right time and asking the right questions is going to be the key<\/strong>. That’s where companies like us who have this journey are there to help them on this new path.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ALD Automotive<\/strong>, Breaking Paradigms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Serna was emphatic in pointing out that in the leasing industry everything revolves around the vehicle, and that is changing. “We are used to everything being auto-centric, and it is a shift we have been making. We are changing the car as a service, to mobility as a service<\/strong>, focusing on the journey, not on the car as a personal benefit for employees, but also for the community.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In the end we are asked to be sustainable and economical, and as leasing companies we assume part of the risks. We are operators that understand and concentrate all the suppliers in the chain, offering fleet services and the necessary information for companies to have multimodality within reach, integrated mobility, vehicles on demand, by subscription, and even micromobility<\/strong>,” said the ALD Automotive<\/strong> representative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, Serna indicated that in relation to regulations, it is not only about having thousands of electric vehicles, since there is also investment in charging, logistics and the entire network, so a very clear regulation is necessary, with transparency and government support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Most of the countries that have had a high penetration of electric vehicles have given incentives to companies as a first step. It is not only to people who have the means to buy an electric car, but also to boost companies that are the ones that move the productive engine<\/strong>,” explained the executive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
