{"id":24169,"date":"2023-10-19T05:05:00","date_gmt":"2023-10-19T10:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=24169"},"modified":"2023-10-18T20:13:57","modified_gmt":"2023-10-19T01:13:57","slug":"costa-rica-anticipates-importing-5000-electric-vehicles-by-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/costa-rica-anticipates-importing-5000-electric-vehicles-by-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Costa Rica Anticipates Importing 5,000 Electric Vehicles by 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>According to data from the Costa Rican <a href=\"https:\/\/www.minae.go.cr\/\"><strong>Ministry of Environment and Energy<\/strong><\/a>, during 2022 <strong>more than 1,800 electric vehicles were registered, which meant an increase of more than 40% compared to 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year it is estimated that close to 5,000 will be imported, the highest figure in the last six years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of September, a total of <strong>40,000 vehicles had entered the country, of which 4,000 are electric, or 10.2%, according to data from the Association of Vehicle and Machinery Importers.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"530\" height=\"345\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/SIEM-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24163\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.536231884057971;width:730px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/SIEM-2.png 530w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/SIEM-2-300x195.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 530px) 100vw, 530px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo: La Naci\u00f3n Costa Rica<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-attributes\"><strong>Attributes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Alberto Antill\u00f3n<\/strong>, Energy Director of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, assured that people are seeing the benefits of buying this type of cars with zero or low emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2022 was a <strong>key year for Costa Rica with a significant increase, due to large investments and public policies that encouraged growth.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Every day there are more models on the market and there is a good supply,&#8221; assured <strong>Carlos Aguilar<\/strong>, Executive Director of the Association of Vehicle and Machinery Importers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Related content:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/how-is-the-electromobility-scenario-in-costa-rica\/\"><strong>How is the Electromobility Scenario in Costa Rica?<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-promoting-actions\"><strong>Promoting Actions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Public Services Regulatory Authority<\/strong> (Aresep) recently announced a reduction in the rates for fast charging points for electric vehicles in Costa Rica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This measure, which significantly reduces costs, represents a great positive impact on the purchasing power of citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aresep&#8217;s decision represents an ongoing effort to promote zero-emission mobility, thus benefiting the environment and the health of the population, while <strong>generating substantial economic savings for those who opt for electric mobility<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the measure, the Executive Director of the <strong>Costa Rican Electric Mobility Association <\/strong>(Asomove), <strong>Silvia Rojas<\/strong>, expressed the satisfaction of the community of electric vehicle users with this reduction in road charging rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rojas highlighted how this measure translates into a relief for the family economy, both for those who use electric cars, bicycles and motorcycles, as well as for companies with fleets of electric vehicles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to data from the Costa Rican Ministry of Environment and Energy, during 2022 more than 1,800 electric vehicles were registered, which meant an increase of more than 40% compared to 2021.
