{"id":26925,"date":"2023-12-21T05:05:00","date_gmt":"2023-12-21T10:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=26925"},"modified":"2023-12-20T20:20:05","modified_gmt":"2023-12-21T01:20:05","slug":"turbo-e-hybrid-becomes-two-millionth-car-produced-by-porsche-in-leipzig","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/turbo-e-hybrid-becomes-two-millionth-car-produced-by-porsche-in-leipzig\/","title":{"rendered":"Turbo E-Hybrid Becomes Two Millionth Car Produced by Porsche in Leipzig"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Employees at <strong>Porsche<\/strong>&#8216;s Saxony plant are celebrating a special production milestone with <strong>the release of the two-millionth car produced in Leipzig, a Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid in Madeira Gold metallic.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Leipzig assembly plant opened in 2002, and when it was expanded into a full-fledged factory, the Panamera became a &#8220;true leipziger&#8221; and production of the second generation began in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In November 2013, the first body shop and paint shop began operations. &#8220;The expansion to a complete factory was a groundbreaking decision for this facility,&#8221; explains<strong> Gerd Rupp<\/strong>, Chairman of the Board of Management of <strong>Porsche Leipzig GmbH<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"567\" height=\"319\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/LEI-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-26917\" style=\"width:730px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/LEI-2.png 567w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/LEI-2-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 567px) 100vw, 567px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo: Porsche Newsroom<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read also: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/porsche-chile-and-copec-voltex-inaugurate-charging-station-at-casacostanera\/\"><strong>Porsche Chile and Copec Voltex Inaugurate Charging Station at CasaCostanera<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-manufacturing-of-all-ranges\"><strong>Manufacturing of All Ranges<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;As a comprehensive factory, we realize models in their entirety, from body construction to final assembly,&#8221; said Rupp. &#8220;This has laid the foundation for new car projects and for continued growth,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, <strong>Porsche is a major employer and economic engine in the central region of Germany, with this factory employing more than 4,400 people<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&#8220;Our employees are the biggest success factor. Without the commitment of this team, many of the challenges we have been faced with we would not have been able to overcome,&#8221;<\/strong> continues Rupp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In recent years, the plant has developed into a center specializing in electromobility. In future, it will be possible to manufacture three types of drive systems (combustion, electric and hybrid) flexibly on a single line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Porsche factory in Leipzig has already won multiple awards<\/strong>, including one for its &#8220;smart factory&#8221; approach. The initial challenge was to best prepare the facility and its processes for the future by making them smart, digital and connected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sustainability is also central to Leipzig&#8217;s strategy.
