In situations where the car is fully charged, it can provide power back to the grid at times of high demand or even supply electricity to a home during a power outage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"399\" height=\"333\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/WALL-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27354\" style=\"width:729px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/WALL-2.png 399w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/WALL-2-300x250.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo: Kia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Read also:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/wallbox-charging-emovili-and-banco-santander-achieve-significant-milestones-in-electromobility\/\"><strong>Wallbox Charging, Emovili and Banco Santander achieve significant milestones in electromobility<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-power-source\"><strong>Power Source<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the <strong>Los Angeles Auto Show<\/strong>, <strong>Kia <\/strong>introduced its vehicle-to-home (V2H) feature through a display called &#8220;<strong>Kia Connected Home<\/strong>&#8220;, which illustrated how easy it is to use two-way charging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Jeff Jablansky<\/strong>, a Kia representative, <strong>explained that a two-way charger must first be installed at home and then the vehicle must be connected to it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using an intelligent management system that considers the hours of the day and the car&#8217;s energy requirements, the <strong>Wallbox Quasar 2<\/strong> charger has the ability to both supply the<strong> EV9<\/strong> with power and transfer it from the car to the home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In mid-2023, <strong>Wallbox <\/strong>and <strong>Kia <\/strong>signed a commercial agreement with automaker <strong>Kia America<\/strong> to bring bi-directional charging to customers of the new <strong>Kia EV9<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The companies offered for this 2024 the <strong>Quasar 2<\/strong>, <strong>the first bi-directional charger with CCS charging standard<\/strong>. Thanks to this agreement, <strong>Wallbox <\/strong>expects it to be the first bi-directional electric vehicle charger compatible with the <strong>Kia EV9<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The equipment has a power output of 11.5 kW<\/strong>. It will allow drivers to both charge the vehicle and discharge it to power the home thanks to the technology known as vehicle-to-home (V2H) or send power to the grid (vehicle-to-grid or V2G).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the case of the United States, <strong>Wallbox estimates that the use of a bidirectional charger such as the Quasar 2 can generate electricity bill savings of more than $1,000 per yea<\/strong>r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this way, users will be able to increase the impact of &#8220;V2H&#8221; technology by automatically scheduling charging sessions at times when energy prices are low and discharging their vehicle to power the home when prices are high.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wallbox Charging is collaborating with Kia to launch a vehicle capable of supplying home grid electricity through bi-directional charging.
