{"id":28020,"date":"2024-01-29T05:15:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-29T10:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=28020"},"modified":"2024-01-26T17:41:45","modified_gmt":"2024-01-26T22:41:45","slug":"chile-incorporates-42-new-electric-buses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/chile-incorporates-42-new-electric-buses\/","title":{"rendered":"Chile Incorporates 42 New Electric Buses"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Chilean cities of Coquimbo and La Serena <strong>will soon have their first 42 electric buses, to consolidate their leadership with more electrified units outside China.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The buses will connect urban sectors of both cities and will <strong>benefit more than 8,000 people daily and more than 2.3 million annually, according to official figures.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Santiago de Chile, 214 new vehicles were added to the capital&#8217;s transport network to replace diesel buses that were circulating in the south.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"481\" height=\"387\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/COQUI-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28014\" style=\"width:730px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/COQUI-2.png 481w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/COQUI-2-300x241.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 481px) 100vw, 481px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo: El Serenense<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-further-progress\"><strong>Further Progress<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In mid-2023, Santiago added 10 double-decker electric buses to its public fleet, making it <strong>the first city in the Americas to have this type of vehicle and joining metropolises<\/strong>, such as London, Hong Kong and Singapore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Electric mobility started to reach the regions. <strong>Antofagasta became the first city outside Santiago to have electric buses.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this regard, the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, <strong>Juan Carlos Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong>, pointed out that cities are not going to be more attractive or more sustainable if all citizens travel by car. &#8220;That means congestion, noise and pollution.
