The Chilean Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Juan Carlos Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong>, along with the President of Trolleybuses, Juan Massai<\/strong>, signed a timetable to commit to the implementation of the first high standard electric buses for Greater Valpara\u00edso.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the site, a demonstration tour was conducted aboard one of the new electric buses, which maintain the colors of the traditional trolleybuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mu\u00f1oz pointed out that one of the main objectives of the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications is to close the quality gap between Santiago and the regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“That is why today we are giving tremendous news for Valpara\u00edso, an important step in the modernization of public transport for a city that requires it,” <\/strong>he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Units’ Characteristics<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Minister Mu\u00f1oz explained that the new buses will not replace the traditional trolley buses, but will be added to the fleet to reinforce coverage and provide a better, high-standard service, and that they will be integrated with other means of transport in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasized that as Ministry of Transport they will promote a short tender with the current operators to offer better night services in Valpara\u00edso, since public transport is an agent that allows the progress of the city<\/strong>, but it is also essential for the mobility of people, for example, of young people who study in the evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be 44 high standard electric buses with universal accessibility, of which 38 are 9 meters long buses and 6 are 10.5 meters long. These will run three services in Valpara\u00edso, in the places where the need to reinforce public transportation has been diagnosed as the greatest.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are making progress on a debt that we know the State has with public transport here in the Valpara\u00edso Region,” added the Minister Secretary General of Government, Nicole Cardoch<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new fleet of electric buses will provide four services, reinforcing public transport in sectors where a coverage deficit has been diagnosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, they will have fare and modal integration. This means that the services will be feeders for the metro stations in the Valpara\u00edso district, and users will also be able to use the electric buses, trolleybus, elevators and Metro Valpara\u00edso with the same card, accessing a reduced fare in the case of combining two means of transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Latam Mobility in Chile<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In August, Latam Mobility<\/strong>, the largest sustainable mobility community in Latin America, will arrive again in Santiago de Chile for the 2024 meeting.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
