Mexico’s Secretary of Economy, Raquel Buenrostro<\/strong>, said that strengthening the North American market and sectorial programs for semiconductors, electromobility and medical devices is one of the priorities in the last stretch of the current Mexican government before the revision of the Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We have to greatly strengthen (the) North American market, which for many, many years we were already integrated, (now) we have an already historic free trade agreement. Although the T-MEC is new, our familiarity and the way we trade has been in place for many years,”<\/strong> said the official at the 15th Conference of the Council of the Americas in Mexico City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buenrostro affirmed that among the priorities of the current government, before the change of administration on October 1, is to take advantage of the North American market, which is one of the largest in the world because it brings together more than 500 million people, through the revision of the T-MEC in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She specified that one more issue on which they will focus in the last stretch of Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Obrador’s Administration is the modification of sectorial programs for semiconductors, electromobility and medical devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Independent Treaty<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The official pointed out that, regardless of who wins the elections in the United States and Mexico this 2024, the link that exists between the two countries should not be forgotten because there is mutual dependence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Regardless of who wins in the U.S. elections and who wins in the Mexican elections, the relationship and linkage that exists in North America and, above all, with the United States, has already existed for many years and we are very interdependent.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

She affirmed that Mexico has become a very competitive country in terms of macroeconomic conditions, thanks to its stability, healthy public finances, a strengthened currency and human capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are highly professionalizing our teams. So all this generates a series of conditions for developing production chains and value chains in Mexico,” <\/strong>she said in statements reported by the EFE news agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
