The Ministry of Energy and the Energy Sustainability Agency <\/a>(AgenciaSE), issued a report that indicates that the Efficient Freight Transport and Electromobility sectors have very little female participation, due to existing gaps, barriers and obstacles, both at a personal, cultural, organizational and institutional level. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The document shows that the transport sector is a well-paid employment opportunity that can promote women’s economic autonomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also highlights opportunities and facilitators, such as the attraction and selection of women to the sector, the existence of specific niches within the sector, the valuation of female skills and gender quotas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the survey of 15 Efficient Freight Transportation companies, only 11.1% of the workforce is made up of women, and they mainly perform administrative roles (43.4%), with a lower presence in operational functions (6.3%).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obstacles<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The study highlights that the labor participation of women in the electromobility sector is inferred from the high gender gaps in related professional and technical careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding women’s labor competencies for this sector, in areas such as professional driving, mechanics and electrical installations, these include professional driver’s licenses, electrical certifications and labor competencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the key findings of the Agency’s study is women’s lack of confidence in their own knowledge and skills<\/strong>, which discourages them from studying careers related to technology or engineering, due to the perception that they are not capable. Likewise, the absence of female role models also contributes to this self-exclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the study concludes that there are internalized cultural biases that constitute barriers to women’s participation in the sector<\/strong>, affecting their motivations and educational interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Latam Mobility in Chile<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In August, Latam Mobility, the largest sustainable mobility community in Latin America, will once again arrive in Santiago de Chile for its 2024 meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
