Transparency. Transformation,&#8221;<\/strong><\/a> highlighting how data usage is helping the company and various organizations worldwide better measure and meet their climate goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this regard, the company itself has been a success story, having recorded<strong> a 41% reduction in its own emissions.<\/strong> Additionally, the report addresses the more complex challenges of business management and environmental impact, such as the increase in business travel and the essential transparency regarding Scope 3 emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The climate crisis demands action. The transportation sector is one of the largest sources of CO2 emissions and has a significant short-term opportunity to make a positive impact,&#8221; said <strong>Neil Cawse<\/strong>, Founder and CEO of <strong>Geotab.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;As a company within this industry, <strong>we have a moral obligation to do everything possible to support carbon emission reductions<\/strong>, not just for ourselves but also for our customers. It has to be a collaborative approach; there are too many challenges to address, and it is not possible to solve them in isolation,&#8221; <strong>he continued.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Related content:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/geotab-mistakes-to-avoid-when-driving-your-electric-car-this-summer\/\"><strong>Geotab: What Not to Do When Driving Your Electric Vehicle in Summer<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-geotab-by-the-numbers\"><strong>Geotab by the Numbers<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The report shows that Geotab<\/strong> has made significant progress in reducing both direct and indirect operational emissions over the past year:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Scope 1, which tracks emissions produced by sources controlled or owned by Geotab, the company recorded <strong>a 41% decrease in GHG emissions in 2023<\/strong> compared to 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Scope 2, which monitors indirect emissions from electricity purchased by Geotab, the company achieved <strong>a 35% reduction in GHG emissions in 2023<\/strong> compared to 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, in terms of challenges, Geotab reports that in Scope 3, which tracks indirect emissions (such as supply chain activities), <strong>there was an 11% increase in 2023 compared to 2019.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This increase was mainly due to <strong>higher purchases of goods and services<\/strong>, business travel, and staff commuting.
