During the Latam Mobility Colombia 2024 event held at the Orquideorama of the Botanical Garden in Medellin, Patricia Baires, Latam Business Developer Manager at Blink Charging, shared the evolution and expansion of the electromobility ecosystem in Latin America.

With over 15 years of experience in design, manufacturing, and software for chargers, Blink Charging has witnessed and played a key role in the significant changes in this industry, revealing the progress the region has experienced in recent years in terms of electric vehicle adoption.

There arises the need to expand the charging ecosystem to sustain this growth. While residential charging has been predominant, with approximately 80% of charges done at home, attention is now turning towards the creation of accessible public charging infrastructure.

The lack of charging points in public places has been identified as one of the main barriers to the mass adoption of electric vehicles, as this lack of charger availability, especially in shopping centers, hotels, and restaurants, has contributed to the so-called “range anxiety” among electric vehicle drivers, slowing down the transition to more sustainable mobility.
