{"id":34042,"date":"2024-06-18T05:15:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-18T10:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=34042"},"modified":"2024-06-17T16:49:44","modified_gmt":"2024-06-17T21:49:44","slug":"chile-records-133-increase-in-electric-vehicle-sales-in-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/chile-records-133-increase-in-electric-vehicle-sales-in-may\/","title":{"rendered":"Chile Records 133% Increase in Electric Vehicle Sales in May"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <strong>National Automotive Association of Chile<\/strong> (ANAC) reported record figures in May for the sale of electric vehicles, in the midst of a slowdown in the sale of these units during the first half of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The association detailed that in the fifth month of the year, registrations of zero or low emission vehicles increased by 133%, with a total of 1,364 units sold, and totaling <strong>5,335 so far this year<\/strong>, which is equivalent to an increase of 100% compared to <strong>the same period in 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to figures reported in <strong>Chile&#8217;s La Tercera<\/strong>, the category of 100% electric vehicles (BEVs) experienced an expansion of 631.4% in May, accounting for a total of 373 units registered, and also accumulating a growth of 100% so far this year to <strong>1,200 units marketed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-other-segments\"><strong>Other Segments<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models also had a strong upswing in the fifth month of the year, marking their best record as 81 units in the month (an increase of 237.5%) and <strong>totaling 372 units registered in May<\/strong> (up 210%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"572\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Tesla-1024x572.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-34048\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Tesla-1024x572.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Tesla-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Tesla-768x429.jpg 768w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Tesla-600x335.jpg 600w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Tesla.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read also:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/fiat-launches-first-100-electric-car-in-chile\/\">Fiat Launches First 100% Electric Car in Chile<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Micro-hybrid vehicles (MHEVs) followed the same trend, adding 141.3% in May to <strong>432 vehicles marketed<\/strong>, and 133.6% to May equivalent to 1,633 units accumulated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The category of self-recharging or conventional hybrids expanded to a lesser extent. The increase in May was 56%, with a total of <strong>465 units sold<\/strong>. Even so, it is the group with the highest number of units sold in the period.
