The Codelco – Nuevo Salvador mine, in Chile<\/a>,<\/strong> made the benefits of electromobility available to its approximately 1,500 workers, through the commissioning of 30 electric buses<\/strong> for the transportation of the state-owned copper company’s personnel, a project implemented by Enel X and Tandem, which was executed under a new investment vehicle for electromobility led by BTG Pactual.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a press release issued by Enel Chile,<\/strong> it is detailed that the new electric buses, of Yutong brand<\/strong> and whose autonomy reaches 350 kilometers, will allow the employees of the El Salvador Division of Codelco to travel daily to the mine sites, in a clean and sustainable way, contributing to reduce the emissions of the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project will be implemented under the Charging as a Service (CaaS) modality,<\/strong> which offers a complete infrastructure, maintenance and energy management solution for the charging points, through the construction of the electro-terminals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project Attributes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Claudio Candia, Enel X’s Business and Industry Manager<\/strong>, highlighted the advantages of the project: “We are proud to make this type of initiative a reality, as it brings with it a series of positive impacts, which in addition to contributing to the decarbonization of mining operations, directly benefits the community and above all the workers at this Codelco site”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, BTG Pactual values being part of this agreement<\/strong> that benefits the mining community in the area, generating a series of positive externalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are happy to be able to work together with Enel X and Codelco in the framework of this agreement, which will allow us to make a definitive contribution to the electrification of transportation and the energy transition towards clean energy. We are taking a decisive step towards sustainable mobility and BTG Pactual has a leading role in channeling capital towards projects with strategic relevance for the planet,” said Andr\u00e9s Navarrete, Executive Director of BTG Pactual.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of today, close to a thousand people will travel daily to and from their homes in modern zero-emission buses, which will reduce emissions by more than 1,980 tons of CO2 per year<\/strong>, equivalent to the positive impact of planting 4,960 trees.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
