{"id":39542,"date":"2024-09-17T05:25:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-17T10:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=39542"},"modified":"2024-09-16T17:16:43","modified_gmt":"2024-09-16T22:16:43","slug":"what-challenges-does-chile-face-in-massification-of-electromobility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/what-challenges-does-chile-face-in-massification-of-electromobility\/","title":{"rendered":"What Challenges Does Chile Face in Massification of Electromobility?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In the framework of the International <strong>Electric Vehicle Day, celebrated this week, the National Automotive Association of Chile (ANAC<\/strong>) put into context the challenges for the massification of electric mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the association, in Chile, <strong>there is still a low awareness of electromobility<\/strong> among the population, in addition to the perception that it is inaccessible and that the charging network is insufficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this sense, the President of ANAC, Sebasti\u00e1n de C\u00e1rcer, explained that there are many challenges that the industry will have to face in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSustainable mobility is safe, autonomous, efficient, connected, electrified, circular and socially responsible mobility in order to have more humane and livable cities,\u201d <strong>he explained in statements reviewed by El Mostrador.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"572\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/BYD-2-1024x572.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-39535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/BYD-2-1024x572.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/BYD-2-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/BYD-2-768x429.jpg 768w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/BYD-2.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-great-challenges\"><strong>Great Challenges<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The sale of <strong>electric vehicles has been increasing in Chile<\/strong>, partly due to greater environmental awareness, government incentives and technological advances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, <strong>charging infrastructure has not grown at the same pace<\/strong>, raising concerns about the grid&#8217;s capacity to support the expanding electric vehicle fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Santiago and other large cities have a higher concentration of chargers, which has allowed for faster growth in <strong>EV adoption in these areas<\/strong>, but there are still large gaps in charging infrastructure in rural areas and areas further from the center of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This limits the range and convenience for those who want to make long journeys or live in less populated regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several factors play a role in bridging this gap. To begin with, and to ensure that the <strong>infrastructure expands in an efficient and compatible<\/strong> manner, standardization and regulation of chargers, including issues of public access and tariffs, <strong>is critical.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although charging points have been implemented in shopping malls and gas stations, the number remains limited compared to the expected demand as <strong>more people purchase electric vehicles.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the framework of the International Electric Vehicle Day, celebrated this week, the National Automotive Association of Chile (ANAC) put into context the challenges for the massification of electric mobility.
