The vehicle is designed to face <strong>extreme conditions<\/strong>, after a successful <strong>three-month<\/strong> testing phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to <strong>Diario Sustentable<\/strong>, in <strong>December 2023<\/strong>, <strong>DAP<\/strong>, one of the main airlines operating in <strong>Antarctica<\/strong>, partnered with <strong>Reborn Electric Motors<\/strong> to test the viability of an <strong>electric bus<\/strong> in the Antarctic environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>You may also read:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/general-motors-is-committed-to-a-sustainable-and-efficient-production-ecosystem-in-mexico\/\">General Motors is Committed to a Sustainable and Efficient Production Ecosystem in Mexico<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The chosen model, the <strong>Queltehue Heavy Duty<\/strong>, manufactured in <strong>Chile<\/strong>, was subjected to <strong>extreme conditions<\/strong> in order to evaluate its performance in one of the most challenging environments in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-tests-performed\"><strong>Tests Performed<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The testing period, which lasted until <strong>March 2024<\/strong>, was a success, which led <strong>DAP<\/strong> to integrate the bus into its operating fleet in <strong>Antarctica<\/strong>, marking a milestone for <strong>Chilean engineering<\/strong> and <strong>electromobility<\/strong> in environments where <strong>energy efficiency<\/strong> and <strong>sustainability<\/strong> are key.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Queltehue Heavy Duty<\/strong> bus is a <strong>24-passenger<\/strong>, all-electric vehicle designed to withstand adverse conditions, such as those found in <strong>subway mining<\/strong> and <strong>Antarctica<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a <strong>permanent magnet synchronous motor<\/strong> that delivers up to <strong>215 kW<\/strong> of power and a <strong>maximum torque of 2430 Nm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vehicle has <strong>pneumatic brakes<\/strong>, <strong>parabolic leaf spring suspension<\/strong>, a <strong>telemetry system<\/strong> for predictive maintenance and <strong>reclining seats<\/strong> with <strong>three-point seat belts<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, the <strong>climate control system<\/strong> ensures comfort in both <strong>sub-zero temperatures<\/strong> and <strong>hot conditions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4o<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chile continues to be at the forefront of technology in sustainable mobility with the launch of the first electric bus manufactured in the country to operate in Antarctica.
