In Colombia<\/strong>, 58% of consumers are considering purchasing an electric<\/strong>, hybrid<\/strong> or plug-in hybrid<\/strong> vehicle in the next two years, which positions the country with the highest purchase intention for these vehicles in Latin America<\/strong>, surpassing Brazil<\/strong> (57%) and Mexico<\/strong> (49%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Mobility Consumer Index 2024<\/a><\/strong> report, prepared by EY<\/strong>, this figure is in line with the global average of 58%, after an increase from 30% to 55% between 2020 and 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, in Latin America<\/strong>, the intention to purchase vehicles has grown by 7 percentage points, reaching 51%. In Colombia<\/strong>, 65% of respondents plan to purchase a new or used vehicle in the next two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within this group, 69% are inclined towards mid-range vehicles<\/strong> and 15% towards low-cost options<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colombian Data<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to the report, interest in electric<\/strong> and hybrid vehicles<\/strong> continues to rise in Colombia<\/strong>, driven by environmental awareness<\/strong> and high fuel prices<\/strong>. These two reasons are cited by 52% of respondents as the main motivations for choosing this type of transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, concerns persist for consumers, such as the lack of charging infrastructure<\/strong>, pointed out by 33% of participants, and the absence of charging points<\/strong> at the workplace or home, mentioned by 31%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, 18% highlighted that repair<\/strong> and maintenance costs<\/strong> are still high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Libardo Bueno<\/strong>, EY Colombia’s Lead Market Partner<\/strong>, stated that \u201cwith these trends, Latin America<\/strong>, and particularly Colombia<\/strong>, is consolidating as an emerging market for the adoption of sustainable vehicles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This evolution opens up a wide range of opportunities for manufacturers<\/strong> and distributors<\/strong> seeking to capitalize on the shift towards greener options<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
