This is according to a report in <strong>Forbes<\/strong> magazine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chinese company <strong>BYD<\/strong> announced its interest in participating in the tender and gave details of how the tests of the <strong>first electric bi-articulated vehicle<\/strong>, whose chassis assembly was <strong>100% made in the country<\/strong>, together with <strong>Hino Motors<\/strong>, are progressing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Forbes details that the <strong>18-meter-long vehicle<\/strong>, which will also be bodyworked by the national industry, is the first to be developed in this way by <strong>BYD in Colombia<\/strong>, which during its trajectory in the country has brought more than <strong>1,470 units to Bogot\u00e1<\/strong> and more than <strong>1,550 nationwide<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You may also read:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/byds-contribution-to-sustainable-mobility-in-latin-america\/\">BYD\u2019s Contribution to Sustainable Mobility in Latin America<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-scope\"><strong>Scope<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With the tender, Transmilenio seeks to acquire <strong>296 electric buses<\/strong> in a first phase, with the goal of completing <strong>636 vehicles<\/strong> in its electric fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"572\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/BYD-1-2-1024x572.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41804\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/BYD-1-2-1024x572.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/BYD-1-2-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/BYD-1-2-768x429.jpg 768w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/BYD-1-2.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The first <strong>electric articulated bus<\/strong> in Colombia is already in operation in Bogot\u00e1. Although it has not yet been officially registered, <strong>internal tests have been carried out<\/strong> on the city&#8217;s streets with positive results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Its design and capacity make it a cost-effective<\/strong>, self-sustainable, <strong>economical and environmentally friendly solution<\/strong>. This bus, designed to adapt to the <strong>most demanding BRT systems<\/strong>, represents a major breakthrough in urban mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is estimated that this electric vehicle will <strong>reduce between 40 and 45 tons of CO2 per year<\/strong>, contributing significantly to the reduction of <strong>polluting emissions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its first phase, it has been tested on city roads such as <strong>Calle 26<\/strong>, <strong>Calle 80<\/strong>, <strong>Carrera 30<\/strong>, and <strong>Avenida Suba<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BYD emphasizes<\/strong> that in its environmental impact, it is estimated that in its first year of operation, the bus will travel approximately <strong>93,600 kilometers<\/strong>, avoiding the emission of <strong>193 tons of CO2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a <strong>capacity for 250 passengers<\/strong>, BYD&#8217;s bi-articulated bus has a <strong>torque of 2,200 NM<\/strong> and a <strong>maximum power of 804 horsepower<\/strong> at <strong>600 kW<\/strong>.
