{"id":41864,"date":"2024-10-25T05:15:07","date_gmt":"2024-10-25T10:15:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=41864"},"modified":"2024-10-24T17:19:57","modified_gmt":"2024-10-24T22:19:57","slug":"cop16-colombia-signs-agreement-to-initiate-transition-to-electric-taxis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/cop16-colombia-signs-agreement-to-initiate-transition-to-electric-taxis\/","title":{"rendered":"COP16: Colombia Signs Agreement to Initiate Transition to Electric Taxis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On the third day of <strong>COP 16<\/strong>, the Minister of Transportation, <strong>Mar\u00eda Constanza Garc\u00eda Alicastro<\/strong>, announced the signing of an agreement to begin the transition to <strong>electric taxis<\/strong> in the special district of <strong>Santiago de Cali<\/strong> and in the municipalities of <strong>Palmira<\/strong>, <strong>Yumbo<\/strong>, and <strong>Jamund\u00ed<\/strong>, which are part of the <strong>Regional Transport Authority<\/strong> of the department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese projects are very important because they will allow the transport sector to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and are in line with the discussions taking place at <strong>COP 16<\/strong>,&#8221; stated Minister <strong>Garc\u00eda Alicastro<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have a commitment to reduce <strong>CO2 emissions<\/strong>. In that sense, and through the <strong>Technological Advancement Fund<\/strong>, we have set a goal of reducing <strong>5.6 million tons<\/strong>, which involves the replacement of the <strong>vehicle fleet<\/strong>,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-colombia-towards-massive-electrification\">Colombia Towards Massive Electrification<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal of this initiative is for drivers to access resources to modernize their vehicles to <strong>zero-emission technologies<\/strong>, under two key conditions: the replacement will be done on a one-to-one basis, meaning that for every combustion vehicle taken out of circulation, one electric vehicle will be introduced.
