Aires to Incorporate 74 Electric Buses for Public Transportation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <strong>Government of the City of Buenos Aires<\/strong> launched a <strong>tender<\/strong> for the purchase of <strong>74 electric buses<\/strong>, in an attempt to incorporate <strong>new technologies<\/strong> in <strong>urban public transportation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to local newspaper <strong>Dinamic<\/strong>, the project envisages the purchase of <strong>59 units<\/strong> with a capacity of <strong>70 to 85 passengers<\/strong> and <strong>15 articulated units<\/strong> that will be able to transport more than <strong>120 people<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>technical specifications<\/strong> included in the bidding documents require all vehicles to have a <strong>low floor<\/strong>, <strong>air conditioning<\/strong> and <strong>electric power supply<\/strong>, in response to the demand for more <strong>sustainable mobility responsibility<\/strong> of the <strong>City&#8217;s Ministry of Infrastructure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"572\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ARg-1024x572.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-42341\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ARg-1024x572.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ARg-300x168.jpg 300w, \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>To cover the <strong>electricity needs<\/strong> of these units, the acquisition of <strong>60 battery chargers<\/strong>, specific for the two types of vehicles tendered, is contemplated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, no mention is made of the construction of any <strong>complementary infrastructure<\/strong>, since the projected <strong>electric buses<\/strong> are exclusively <strong>battery-powered<\/strong> and do not require <strong>additional facilities<\/strong>, as the <strong>streetcars<\/strong> might need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite this, the <strong>Buenos Aires Government<\/strong> has described these vehicles as <strong>\u201celectric streetcars\u201d<\/strong> and <strong>\u201ctrambuses\u201d<\/strong> in its <strong>official communications<\/strong>, which has generated some <strong>confusion<\/strong> as to the true nature of the units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>tender<\/strong> has been issued by <strong>Subterr\u00e1neos de Buenos Aires (SBASE)<\/strong>, although company sources have clarified that their role is limited to <strong>collaborating with the process<\/strong>, and have ruled out that <strong>SBASE<\/strong> will participate in the <strong>operation<\/strong> of these <strong>electric buses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the company has the capacity to operate this type of vehicles, on this occasion the project is under the <strong>direct responsibility<\/strong> of the <strong>Ministry of Infrastructure of the City<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is not yet defined whether these new buses will be part of <strong>existing routes<\/strong> or whether <strong>new lines<\/strong> will be created for their operation in <strong>specific areas of local jurisdiction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2
