At the forum Commitment of Megaprojects to the National Environmental Restoration Goal<\/strong>, held during COP16<\/strong>, the Minister of Transport<\/strong>, Mar\u00eda Constanza Garc\u00eda Alicastro<\/strong>, highlighted the sector’s initiatives to develop a purposeful infrastructure designed to be resilient to climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The minister explained that the Transport sector in Colombia<\/strong> is the country\u2019s largest energy consumer, accounting for 42% of national energy consumption<\/strong> and is also responsible for 12.5% of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions<\/strong>, equivalent to 37.8 million tons of CO2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The minister reiterated that, within the framework of the National Development Plan<\/strong>, a commitment was made to mitigate a cumulative total of 2 million tons of CO2<\/strong> over the 2022\u20132026<\/strong> period, aligning these efforts with the sector\u2019s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
