{"id":44290,"date":"2024-12-16T05:20:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-16T10:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=44290"},"modified":"2024-12-16T03:16:18","modified_gmt":"2024-12-16T08:16:18","slug":"european-union-and-french-development-agency-invest-in-sustainable-mobility-development-in-the-dominican-republic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/european-union-and-french-development-agency-invest-in-sustainable-mobility-development-in-the-dominican-republic\/","title":{"rendered":"European Union and French Development Agency invest in sustainable mobility development in the Dominican Republic"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <strong>European Union (EU)<\/strong> and the <strong>French Development Agency (AFD)<\/strong> support <strong>the Dominican Republic<\/strong> in implementing the <strong>Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan<\/strong> for Greater Santo Domingo and Santiago with <strong>loans and grants<\/strong> exceeding <strong>138 million euros<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the local publication <strong>Diario Libre<\/strong>, <strong>AFD<\/strong> has invested <strong>128 million euros<\/strong> in technical assistance with experts in mass transportation such as the <strong>Santo Domingo Metro<\/strong> and <strong>cable cars<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The plan also strengthens and develops the capacity of <strong>line 1 of the Santo Domingo Metro<\/strong>, including the expansion of its five elevated stations to improve capacity and the purchase of additional <strong>rail cars<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You may also read:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/china-and-eu-make-little-progress-on-electric-vehicle-deal\/\">China and EU Make Little Progress on Electric Vehicle Deal<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since <strong>2017<\/strong>, the <strong>European Union<\/strong>, through its funds, has facilitated the country with <strong>10 million euros<\/strong> in either concessionary terms or donations, used for studies aimed at improving sustainable mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"572\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/RD-1-1024x572.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44286\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/RD-1-1024x572.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/RD-1-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/RD-1-768x429.jpg 768w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/RD-1.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-progressive-plan\"><strong>Progressive Plan<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In a second phase of cooperation, <strong>10 million euros<\/strong> are allocated to urban mobility achieved through agreements with the <strong>Government<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Katja Afheldt<\/strong>, the EU Ambassador in the country, informed that the EU funds studies on <strong>collective transport<\/strong>, <strong>digital transition<\/strong>, <strong>social transition<\/strong>, <strong>integrated fare systems<\/strong>, <strong>electromobility<\/strong>, and the <strong>Integrated Transport System in Santo Domingo and Santiago<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>EU<\/strong> supported <strong>Intrant<\/strong> in restructuring bus corridors in Greater Santo Domingo, including the formalization of the corridors. It also works on designing a road plan for Greater Santo Domingo and a feasibility analysis for an <strong>electric bus corridor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second phase of EU cooperation, with another <strong>10 million euros<\/strong>, includes studies for the construction of the <strong>Metropolitan Train<\/strong> connecting Greater Santo Domingo and <strong>San Crist\u00f3bal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Part of the EU\u2019s work in the country is to <strong>mobilize and promote investments from European public and private funds<\/strong> and support its Dominican partner in <strong>improving transportation<\/strong>, as well as facilitating the triple transition: <strong>digital, green, and social<\/strong> with <strong>European technology<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The European Union (EU) and the French Development Agency (AFD) support the Dominican Republic in implementing the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan for Greater Santo Domingo and Santiago with loans and grants exceeding 138 million euros.
