{"id":44367,"date":"2024-12-19T05:30:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-19T10:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=44367"},"modified":"2024-12-20T10:45:14","modified_gmt":"2024-12-20T15:45:14","slug":"electric-vehicle-strategy-boosted-general-motors-stock-in-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/electric-vehicle-strategy-boosted-general-motors-stock-in-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Electric Vehicle Strategy Boosted General Motors Stock in 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>General Motors (GM)<\/strong> shares rose <strong>46%<\/strong> so far in 2024, heading toward one of the best years in its history as the company met expectations in its <strong>electric vehicle<\/strong> segment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mary Barra<\/strong>, GM&#8217;s CEO, told <strong>Yahoo Finance<\/strong> that they experienced many changes. \u201cWe are a <strong>transforming industry<\/strong>, and GM is ensuring that we are prepared and proactive for the <strong>changes ahead<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis year, the company raised its <strong>profit forecast<\/strong> every time it reported its financial results in 2024, primarily due to the adoption of <strong>crossover<\/strong> cars like the <strong>Chevy Trax<\/strong> and the <strong>Cadillac Lyriq EV<\/strong>, as well as <strong>cost cuts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"572\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/GM.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/GM.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/GM-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/GM-768x429.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-strong-finish\"><strong>Strong finish<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the third quarter of the year, its <strong>revenues of $48.76 billion<\/strong> and <strong>adjusted earnings of $2.96 per share<\/strong> surpassed analysts&#8217; estimates of <strong>$44.69 billion<\/strong> and <strong>$2.43<\/strong>, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result, it achieved a <strong>strong cash position<\/strong>, allowing it to repurchase shares worth <strong>$2.4 billion<\/strong> since January, sending a clear signal to the market of <strong>long-term potential<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this context, <strong>Dan Ives<\/strong>, of <strong>Wedbush Securities<\/strong>, stated that &#8220;<strong>GM led by example this year<\/strong>&#8221; and that its shares could &#8220;<strong>reach triple digits<\/strong>&#8221; if the corporation delivers on its promise to continue growing and leading the <strong>electric vehicle<\/strong> sector, which is currently dominated by <strong>Chinese brands<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, GM&#8217;s shares trade at a <strong>forward price-to-earnings ratio of 4.9<\/strong>, compared to <strong>23 for the S&amp;P 500<\/strong>, <strong>126 for Tesla<\/strong>, and <strong>5.9 for Ford<\/strong>, its main competitor.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>General Motors (GM) shares rose 46% so far in 2024, heading toward one of the best years in its history as the company met expectations in its electric vehicle segment.
