The Santiago Fire Department (CBS)<\/strong> announced the arrival of Latin America\u2019s first fully battery-powered fire truck<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gabriel Huerta<\/strong>, superintendent of the Santiago Fire Department, explained that the vehicle symbolizes the continuous effort to improve operational efficiency<\/strong> and reduce the environmental impact<\/strong> of their activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project was assigned to the 5th Fire Company of Santiago<\/strong> and involves an investment of nearly 1.5 million dollars<\/strong>, funded through a tripartite scheme with contributions from private companies SQM Lithium<\/strong> and Copec Voltex<\/strong>, as well as CBS<\/strong> itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rosenbauer RTX<\/strong> has already begun its journey to Chile, departing from the Port of Zeebrugge<\/strong> in Belgium<\/strong>. It is expected to arrive in the country by the end of January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is an electric fire truck<\/strong> with a 4×4 traction system<\/strong> and a turning radius 50% smaller<\/strong> than traditional trucks, thanks to rear wheels that can adjust to follow the turn. It includes several features designed specifically for firefighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
