{"id":45552,"date":"2025-02-03T05:30:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-03T10:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=45552"},"modified":"2025-02-02T10:35:56","modified_gmt":"2025-02-02T15:35:56","slug":"bogota-prepares-for-car-free-and-motorcycle-free-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/bogota-prepares-for-car-free-and-motorcycle-free-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Bogot\u00e1 prepares for Car-Free and Motorcycle-Free Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On <strong>Thursday, February 6<\/strong>, <strong>Bogot\u00e1<\/strong> will celebrate a new edition of <strong>Car-Free and Motorcycle-Free Day<\/strong>, a day aimed at promoting <strong>sustainable mobility<\/strong> and reducing the <strong>environmental impact<\/strong> caused by <strong>private vehicles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The measure, which will be in effect from <strong>5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.<\/strong>, prohibits the circulation of <strong>private vehicles<\/strong> and <strong>motorcycles<\/strong> throughout the city. This annual initiative aims to improve <strong>air quality<\/strong>, reduce <strong>noise<\/strong>, and encourage the use of <strong>transportation methods<\/strong> that are more <strong>environmentally friendly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To ensure <strong>mobility<\/strong> for citizens during the day, the <strong>Bogot\u00e1 Mayor\u2019s Office<\/strong> has implemented several measures, including extended hours for the <strong>Integrated Public Transport System (Sitp)<\/strong> and <strong>Transmilenio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-operation\"><strong>Operation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The system will operate at <strong>100% capacity<\/strong>, with <strong>10,543 buses<\/strong> in circulation and extended schedules from <strong>4:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.<\/strong> This will allow citizens to travel conveniently throughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"572\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/BG-1024x572.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-45545\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/BG-1024x572.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/BG-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/BG-768x429.jpg 768w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/BG.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, there will be <strong>8,000 spaces<\/strong> in the system&#8217;s <strong>bike parking lots<\/strong> and <strong>3,300 bicycles<\/strong> available through the <strong>Shared Bicycle System<\/strong> for those who prefer this <strong>mode of transport<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These measures are designed to provide <strong>efficient and sustainable mobility alternatives<\/strong>, encouraging the use of <strong>public transport<\/strong> and <strong>bicycles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The use of <strong>bicycles<\/strong> will be one of the main alternatives during this day. <strong>Bogot\u00e1<\/strong> has an extensive network of <strong>661 kilometers of bike lanes<\/strong>, allowing cyclists to travel safely. For this day, an additional <strong>89 kilometers of bike paths<\/strong> will be available, further facilitating access to <strong>cycling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Citizens can also choose to <strong>walk<\/strong>, taking advantage of the wide <strong>sidewalks<\/strong> and <strong>public spaces<\/strong> designed for <strong>pedestrian traffic<\/strong>.
