The recent creation of the electric vehicle factory Olinia<\/strong>, announced by President Claudia Sheinbaum<\/strong>, marks a significant advance in the Mexican automotive industry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the Mexican Association for the Promotion of Electric Vehicles (AMIVE)<\/strong>, chaired by Francisco Cabeza Santillana<\/strong>, has pointed out that one of the main challenges for Olinia’s operation<\/strong> will be the charging point infrastructure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cabeza Santillana<\/strong> emphasized that, although the manufacturing of affordable electric vehicles<\/strong> is a positive step, it is essential to ensure that users can conveniently charge their vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He highlighted the need to establish models that allow electric vehicle owners<\/strong> to charge their units at home, especially in multifamily residential areas<\/strong>, where the installation of private chargers can be complicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, Cabeza Santillana<\/strong> stressed that, although Mexico<\/strong> is the seventh-largest country in the world in the manufacturing of electric vehicles<\/strong>, it is important for vehicles to have access to a charging network<\/strong> that does not solely depend on car production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, the president of AMIVE<\/strong> also highlighted the importance of the Mexican government<\/strong> considering electric mobility<\/strong> as a national consumer good, which could foster public policies and incentive programs that facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles<\/strong> and the expansion of charging infrastructure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
