{"id":46025,"date":"2025-02-13T05:15:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-13T10:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=46025"},"modified":"2025-02-12T18:52:11","modified_gmt":"2025-02-12T23:52:11","slug":"trump-suspends-funding-for-charging-infrastructure-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/trump-suspends-funding-for-charging-infrastructure-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump suspends funding for charging infrastructure program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Donald Trump<\/strong> continues taking actions that undermine <strong>tax incentives<\/strong> to promote <strong>electric mobility<\/strong> in the <strong>United States<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week, the <strong>Federal Department of Transportation<\/strong> sent a <strong>letter<\/strong> to the <strong>states<\/strong> informing them that it was suspending approval of the <strong>spending plans<\/strong> for the <strong>National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Trump administration<\/strong> is blocking <strong>funds<\/strong> allocated to <strong>states<\/strong> to support the construction of a <strong>national electric vehicle (EV) charging network<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"572\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Trump-2-1024x572.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46018\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Trump-2-1024x572.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Trump-2-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Trump-2-768x429.jpg 768w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Trump-2.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-policies-of-his-predecessor\"><strong>Policies of his predecessor<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Former President <strong>Joe Biden<\/strong> announced <strong>funding<\/strong> in support of his goal to build a <strong>national network of electric vehicle chargers<\/strong> that is <strong>convenient, affordable, and made in America<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program, called <strong>National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI, by its initials in English)<\/strong>, was designed to provide <strong>$5 billion<\/strong> to finance the construction of <strong>charging networks<\/strong> along the <strong>highways<\/strong>, and the <strong>Federal Highway Administration<\/strong> had approved the <strong>states\u2019 plans<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Emily Biondi<\/strong>, from the <strong>Federal Highway Administration<\/strong>, stated that the <strong>agency<\/strong> was rescinding the <strong>approval<\/strong> of all <strong>state plans<\/strong> for the <strong>program<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Biondi<\/strong> noted that the <strong>new directive from the Department of Transportation<\/strong> decided to review the <strong>underlying policies<\/strong> related to the implementation of the <strong>NEVI Formula Program<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>letter<\/strong> explained that no <strong>new obligations<\/strong> can be made under the <strong>NEVI Formula Program<\/strong> until the <strong>final updated NEVI Formula Program Guide<\/strong> is published and <strong>new state plans<\/strong> are submitted and approved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Donald Trump continues taking actions that undermine tax incentives to promote electric mobility in the United States.
