{"id":46215,"date":"2025-02-19T05:25:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-19T10:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=46215"},"modified":"2025-02-19T01:41:12","modified_gmt":"2025-02-19T06:41:12","slug":"panama-incorporates-60-new-electric-buses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/panama-incorporates-60-new-electric-buses\/","title":{"rendered":"Panama incorporates 60 new electric buses"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Authorities in <strong>Panama<\/strong> announced the purchase of <strong>60 new electric buses<\/strong> as part of their strategy for transitioning to a more efficient and sustainable transportation system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the introduction of <strong>electric vehicles<\/strong> in <strong>2015<\/strong>, the country has experienced steady growth in the adoption of this technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to data from <strong>BN Am\u00e9ricas<\/strong>, in <strong>2024<\/strong>, <strong>Panama<\/strong> added <strong>773 electric cars<\/strong> to its vehicle fleet, representing <strong>1.42%<\/strong> of total new vehicle sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>January 2025<\/strong>, <strong>76 electric cars<\/strong> were sold, surpassing in a single month the combined sales of <strong>January 2023 and 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"572\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Panama-1-1024x572.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46211\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Panama-1-1024x572.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Panama-1-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Panama-1-768x429.jpg 768w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Panama-1.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-growth-in-figures\"><strong>Growth in Figures<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The growth in <strong>electric mobility<\/strong> has been consistent. In <strong>2021<\/strong>, <strong>82 electric vehicles<\/strong> were sold; in <strong>2022<\/strong>, the number increased to <strong>160<\/strong>; in <strong>2023<\/strong>, it reached <strong>440 units<\/strong>, and by <strong>October 2024<\/strong>, <strong>773 electric cars<\/strong> were already on the roads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With these figures, <strong>Panama<\/strong> has accumulated <strong>1,508 electric vehicles<\/strong> in circulation, according to the <strong>Panama Automobile Dealers Association (ADAP)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>energy transition<\/strong> in the transportation sector is progressing with <strong>clear goals for 2030<\/strong>, including the electrification of <strong>10% to 20%<\/strong> of private vehicles and ensuring that between <strong>25% and 40%<\/strong> of new car sales correspond to this technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regarding <strong>public transportation<\/strong>, it is projected that between <strong>15% and 35%<\/strong> of <strong>bus concession fleets<\/strong> will be electric and that between <strong>25% and 50%<\/strong> of the <strong>public bus fleet<\/strong> will transition to <strong>electric mobility<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purchase of <strong>60 electric buses<\/strong> represents a concrete step in this process and will directly benefit <strong>public transportation users<\/strong>, reducing <strong>emissions<\/strong> and <strong>operational costs<\/strong> in the long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-latam-mobility-nbsp-on-nbsp-february-20-2025-nbsp-in-nbsp-monterrey\"><strong>Latam Mobility<\/strong>&nbsp;on&nbsp;<strong>February 20, 2025<\/strong>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<strong>Monterrey<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On&nbsp;<strong>February 20, 2025<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Latam Mobility<\/strong>, the largest sustainable mobility community in&nbsp;<strong>Latin America<\/strong>&nbsp;begins its tour in&nbsp;<strong>Monterrey, Mexico<\/strong>, with the second edition of the \u201c<strong>North America Mobility Summit 2025<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Monterrey-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44518\" srcset=\"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Monterrey-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Monterrey-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Monterrey-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Monterrey-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/latamobility.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Monterrey.jpg 1800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mexico<\/strong>&nbsp;has become an important bastion for the region with the arrival of major brands in the automotive industry, with interesting plans to install electric vehicle plants.
