Monterrey, Mexico<\/strong> hosted the North America Mobility Summit 2025<\/strong>, welcoming leaders from the electromobility<\/strong> sector to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the freight transport industry in its transition to more sustainable technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a meeting with over 400 attendees<\/strong>, more than 70 speakers<\/strong>, and 20 partners<\/strong>, Isabel Miranda<\/strong>, Head of Sales and Marketing<\/strong> at Enel X Mexico<\/strong>; Lorena Mart\u00ednez<\/strong>, Secretary of Electromobility at Canacar<\/strong>; Omar Carre\u00f3n<\/strong>, Head of Marketing and Sales at Autel Energy<\/strong>; and Pablo Bernal<\/strong>, Energy and Automotive Solutions Leader at Keysight Technologies<\/strong>, discussed the main points of interest in the sector, moderated by Jorge Su\u00e1rez<\/strong>, founder of EVRY<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solutions from the Energy Sector<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

From the perspective of Enel X<\/strong>, Isabel Miranda<\/strong> highlighted the importance of designing efficient charging hubs<\/strong> tailored to the energy demand of each region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“A key challenge is the need for reinforcements in the electrical grid to support the growing demand for fast charging<\/strong>,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also mentioned that electrification involves selecting electric vehicles<\/strong>, but also, “the creation of strategic alliances<\/strong> between operators, infrastructure providers, and energy companies.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, renewable energy<\/strong> is crucial in the company’s development: “We have solar panels<\/strong> that power part of our operation. The demand we have contracted is also sustainably electrified. There, we close the sustainability loop,” she affirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Innovation and Global Experience<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Omar Carre\u00f3n<\/strong> from Autel Energy<\/strong> offered a global vision<\/strong> on the evolution of electromobility, emphasizing that fast charging technologies<\/strong> are constantly being developed to improve operational efficiency for fleets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Autel<\/strong> offers scalable charging solutions that allow companies to expand their infrastructure as their needs grow,” he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also highlighted that interoperability<\/strong> between charging systems and smart energy management<\/strong> are essential elements for the success of the transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In terms of fleets and transport, we offer ultra-fast charging<\/strong> options ranging from 360 to 640 kW<\/strong>, enabling fast and dynamic vehicle flow,” he commented. Additionally, they are working on opening the software to allow interoperability<\/strong> and systems that are smart<\/strong> to avoid overloading the grid<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Challenges of Electromobility in Freight Transport<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Lorena Mart\u00ednez<\/strong> highlighted three major challenges facing the adoption of electromobility<\/strong> in freight transport. First, “the high cost<\/strong> of electric tractor-trailers<\/strong> compared to internal combustion<\/strong> vehicles, with differences that can reach up to 50%<\/strong>,” she assured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second, the lack of charging infrastructure<\/strong>, which limits the operability of electric fleets<\/strong> and creates an additional financial burden for transporters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, “safety on road corridors<\/strong> is a key concern, as charging stations must be located in strategic points<\/strong> to minimize risks for operators and cargo,” she concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regulation and Standardization<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Pablo Bernal<\/strong>, from Keysight Technologies<\/strong>, addressed the importance of standards<\/strong> in electromobility. He highlighted the role of ISO 15118-2<\/strong> in the development of Smart Charging<\/strong> and mentioned that regulation in Mexico<\/strong> is still in the process of consolidation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Agreement 108<\/strong> from the CRE<\/strong> has been a first step in defining a regulatory framework for electric vehicle charging, but much remains to be done to ensure the compatibility<\/strong> and efficiency<\/strong> of charging systems in the country,” he assured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ecosystem Under Construction<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The panel made it clear that the electrification of freight transport<\/strong> is a complex process that requires collaboration<\/strong> between various stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strategic planning<\/strong>, investment in infrastructure<\/strong>, safety in charging corridors<\/strong>, and the adoption of solid standards<\/strong> will be key to accelerating the transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, as Mexico<\/strong> advances on this path, global experience<\/strong> and local initiatives<\/strong> will be important in building an efficient<\/strong> and sustainable electromobility ecosystem<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
