Ecuador takes a step forward in sustainable mobility with the arrival of electric trolleybuses in Quito<\/strong>, a fleet of 46 units manufactured by Yutong Bus<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These vehicles, which arrived from Shanghai, are part of a 60-bus acquisition<\/strong> by the municipality to modernize the Troleb\u00fas<\/strong> system. The remaining 14 units<\/strong> will be integrated in the coming days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Key Advancement for Sustainable Mobility<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The official handover of the electric trolleybuses in Quito<\/strong> took place at Parque de la Ni\u00f1a<\/strong>, in the northern part of the city, attended by Mayor Pabel Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong>, representatives of the Chinese manufacturer, and citizens who use the service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the event, Mu\u00f1oz emphasized the significance of this initiative in reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality<\/strong> in Ecuador\u2019s capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the mayor, the implementation of these vehicles will have an environmental impact equivalent to planting 400,000 additional trees<\/strong>, reinforcing Quito\u2019s position as a model for eco-friendly mobility<\/strong> in Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Features and Benefits of the New Trolleybuses<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

These electric trolleybuses in Quito<\/strong> will replace part of the fleet that has been operating for over 30 years<\/strong>, serving 150,000 passengers daily<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the Troleb\u00fas<\/strong> system directly impacts 59.37% of Quito\u2019s population<\/strong>, making it a key component of urban transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The General Manager of Quito\u2019s Public Metropolitan Passenger Transport Company (EPMTPQ), Xavier V\u00e1squez<\/strong>, highlighted the benefits of this new fleet:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2705 50% decrease in noise pollution<\/strong>
\u2705 Improved safety and accessibility for passengers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new electric trolleybuses in Quito<\/strong> are articulated, 18 meters long<\/strong>, and have a capacity of 160 passengers<\/strong>. Additionally, they include dedicated spaces for passengers with reduced mobility, bicycles, and baby strollers. Their features include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
