{"id":47557,"date":"2025-04-15T05:30:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-15T10:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/?p=47557"},"modified":"2025-04-14T18:43:00","modified_gmt":"2025-04-14T23:43:00","slug":"sustainable-mobility-in-barranquilla-promigas-and-gases-del-caribe-renew-transmetro-fleet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamobility.com\/en\/sustainable-mobility-in-barranquilla-promigas-and-gases-del-caribe-renew-transmetro-fleet\/","title":{"rendered":"Sustainable Mobility in Barranquilla: Promigas and Gases del Caribe Renew Transmetro Fleet"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In a significant move towards sustainable mobility in Barranquilla, <strong>Promigas and Gases del Caribe<\/strong> have supported the renewal of the city&#8217;s Transmetro public transport fleet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This effort, in collaboration with the Mayor&#8217;s Office, City Management, Metropolitan Area, Transmetro, local transport operators, Skandia and Marcopolo, marks a major public-private initiative for cleaner urban mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first phase includes <strong>40 new buses<\/strong>, combining articulated (140-passenger capacity) and standard (90-passenger) models. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All units feature <strong>EURO VI natural gas technology<\/strong>, reducing <strong>greenhouse gas emissions by 16%<\/strong> and significantly improving air quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-clean-comfortable-and-high-tech-buses\">Clean, comfortable and high-tech buses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The new vehicles are equipped with <strong>efficient air conditioning<\/strong>, <strong>100% electronic fare collection<\/strong>, <strong>facial recognition cameras and driver fatigue monitoring systems<\/strong>, <strong>Wi-Fi and USB charging ports<\/strong>, and <strong>full accessibility<\/strong> for people with disabilities and users with assistance dogs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This advanced fleet achieves a <strong>99% reduction in particulate matter emissions<\/strong> and a <strong>30% cut in greenhouse gas emissions<\/strong>, positioning Barranquilla as a leader in clean public transportation in Colombia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Buses de Transmetro amigables con el medio ambiente\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/w6wHmXUyANk?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/latamobility.com\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
