The push for green mobility in Brazil<\/strong> gains momentum with the publication of a new decree that sets mandatory requirements for the commercialization and importation of vehicles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The regulation is part of the Programa de Mobilidade Verde e Inova\u00e7\u00e3o <\/strong>(MOVER), aimed at aligning the automotive industry with global sustainability and innovation standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The regulation outlines technical and environmental standards that companies must comply with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Also read: U.S. tariffs and mobility in Latin America: Brazil faces risks and opportunities<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The new regulation strengthens the commitment to green mobility<\/strong>, requiring automakers and importers to certify compliance with these standards before the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services (MDIC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Moreover, as of January 1, 2027<\/strong>, companies will need to disclose the full life cycle carbon footprint<\/strong> of their products\u2014from raw material extraction to end-of-life disposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n While the decree is effective immediately, the new certification process will begin on June 1, 2025<\/strong>. All current registrations under Decree n\u00ba 9.557\/2018<\/strong> will be revoked on that same date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This regulatory shift is a strategic opportunity for the Brazilian automotive industry to adapt to future sustainability challenges.
