With more than 15 million infected people, Brazil ranks as the Latin American country with the most Covid-19 cases reported to date, a fact that has caused a decline in the number of passengers on public transport, which has dropped from 89 % to 79% according to a report by software company Moovit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the information collected during the first quarter of 2021, it was learned that 74% of the population requests an increase in the frequency of transport units, in order to avoid any type of agglomeration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the same order of ideas, 57% of those surveyed asked for more information in real time about the arrival of the buses in order to avoid crowds at the stops; in a country that has more than 211 million inhabitants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The frequency of walkers received an increase of more than double, and is that this aspect increased from 3% to 7%, while shared transport also increased its popularity, which went from 1% to 5%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brazilian preferences<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

36% of the population revealed that even in the midst of the pandemic, they prefer to use public transport. These numbers have almost the same margin of coincidence with the 33% who request greater social distancing and a better distribution of spaces within vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They don’t feel safe<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Of the citizens approached, only 2% showed that they felt safe when using the transport units, a rather worrying figure considering that 45% of Brazilians move through public transport because they have no other way to travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, 16% of the opinions agreed that payment systems should be implemented without physical contact, as well as the possibility of acquiring digital tickets through the cell phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MaaS (more) on mobility in Latin America<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
