Mexico<\/strong>‘s automotive industry is undergoing a transformation with clearly defined ambitions for 2030, with recent data indicating that the country is on track to consolidate its position as the world’s fifth largest vehicle producer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2024, Mexico manufactured 3,989,403 vehicles<\/strong>, representing a 5.56%<\/strong> increase over the previous year (3,779,107 units in 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The estimate for 2025 reaches 4,097,116 vehicles<\/strong>, a projected increase of 2.7%<\/strong> compared to 2024, according to information published by Editorialge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the most notable changes is the expected increase in the production of electric and hybrid vehicles, which currently account for only 5% of the total<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, they are projected to reach a 39% share by 2030<\/strong>, driven by electromobility policies and growing global demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the same time, Mexican authorities are seeking to strengthen the national value chain, and domestic content in vehicles is expected to increase by 15%<\/strong>, bolstering local manufacturers and suppliers within the framework of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Currently, 84% of automotive exports comply with rules of origin, and the goal is to exceed 95% by 2030<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This progress will consolidate Mexico’s position as a key player in the regional automotive industry, with greater control over its supply chain and a strengthened capacity to face the challenges of global competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The \u201cPlan Mexico<\/strong>\u201d establishes that production for domestic consumption should grow from 15% to 25% by 2030<\/strong>, while exports should fall from 85% to 75%<\/strong>, favoring more equitable economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another anticipated milestone is the \u201cOlinia<\/strong>\u201d electric vehicle, a national unit designed for its industry: it is expected to start with 10,000 units in 2027<\/strong>, reach 25,000 in 2028, and exceed 50,000 per year in 2030, strengthening local development in electromobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For its part, Mexico’s charging infrastructure, with 1,336 public or semi-public stations and 3,206 connectors, is the most extensive in Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n By 2030, this infrastructure is projected to increase tenfold, reaching more than 13,000 stations and 35,000 connectors<\/strong>, which are essential to support the mass adoption of electric vehicles, according to figures from Editorialge<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Mexican automotive industry could expand its workforce from nearly 1 million direct jobs to more than 1.5 million by 2030<\/strong>. In addition, 100,000 specialized technical jobs<\/strong> will be created in sectors such as electromobility and advanced manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the same time, its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) would reach 6%, increasing its weight in national manufacturing from 20% to 25%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2024, Mexico <\/strong>exported more than 3.4 million vehicles<\/strong>, consolidating its position as the world’s fourth largest exporter, and by 2030, it is projected to exceed 4 million units exported<\/strong>, with greater diversification toward Asia and Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The country will also be building new industrial capabilities: more than 10 large battery plants<\/strong> are expected to be built, consolidating Mexico’s position as a key player in the global electromobility value chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Likewise, the additive manufacturing (3D printing) sector is expected to grow to a value of USD 1.9 billion by 2030<\/strong>, with 30%<\/strong> of non-critical components manufactured using this technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On the other hand, the software content in Mexican cars will increase fivefold by 2030<\/strong>, integrating advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving systems (levels 3-4), reaching up to 25% of production with these capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To support this growth, Mexico <\/strong>will establish at least five automotive innovation centers in regions such as Monterrey, Quer\u00e9taro, Aguascalientes, Puebla, and Jalisco<\/strong>, focused on electromobility, software, advanced manufacturing, and sustainable materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Finally, sustainability will be a central focus: more than 50% of the energy used in manufacturing will come from renewable sources<\/strong>, and circular economy processes will be applied to achieve 75% material recycling by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Fleet management in Mexico is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by digitalization, the need to reduce operating costs, and environmental requirements<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Transportation, logistics, and service companies are migrating to real-time monitoring systems that allow them to optimize routes, control fuel consumption, and schedule preventive maintenance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the main drivers of this change is the adoption of advanced telematics solutions capable of collecting and analyzing data on driver behavior, vehicle condition, and city traffic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These tools, combined with artificial intelligence, facilitate strategic decision-making, improve road safety, and reduce the risk of accidents<\/strong>. According to industry estimates, the implementation of intelligent fleet management systems can generate savings of up to 20% in annual operating costs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the Mexican market, the growth of e-commerce and the expansion of the last mile are accelerating the demand for more versatile and sustainable fleets.
