Access, Scale, and Competitiveness<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the key factors in the advancement of electromobility in the region is the democratization of supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brands such as BYD, Geely, Chery, <\/strong>and Great Wall Motors<\/strong> have significantly expanded the portfolio of electric and hybrid vehicles available in countries such as Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, Peru, <\/strong>and Argentina<\/strong>, with prices significantly lower than the premium models that marked the first stage of the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This context has allowed electric mobility to move beyond being a niche market and begin to scale up to mass segments, both in corporate fleets and among private users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Peru<\/strong>, for example, sales of hybrid and electric vehicles grew 44% year-on-year<\/strong> in the first nine months of the year, reaching a historic record. Market growth cannot be explained solely by demand, as logistics infrastructure has become a strategic enabler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entry into operation of the port of Chancay <\/strong>in Peru <\/strong>is redefining vehicle import routes from Asia<\/strong> and positioning the country as a key regional distribution hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to receiving large volumes of imported vehicles, the country is moving towards local production: BYD<\/strong> and GWM <\/strong>have already started industrial operations in former Ford <\/strong>and Mercedes-Benz<\/strong> plants, anticipating tariffs on electric vehicle imports, which will reach 35%<\/strong> in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Chile<\/strong>, Chinese brands already account for nearly 30% of new vehicle sales<\/strong>, while the share of electric vehicles reached historic highs in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Argentina<\/strong>, despite a more restrictive economic context, is also beginning to join this dynamic. BYD <\/strong>entered the country in October 2025, with expectations of replicating, in the medium term, the adoption levels observed in Brazil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uruguay<\/strong>, for its part, has one of the highest penetration rates in the region, with electric vehicles available from $19,000<\/strong> and growing adoption in both fleets and the private market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite this growth, the transition to zero- and low-emission mobility faces challenges common to the region: uneven charging infrastructure, long distances, heterogeneous regulatory frameworks, and the need for greater public-private coordination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
