The National Electric Energy Agency<\/strong> (ANEEL) approved<\/a><\/strong> the opening of Public Consultation No. 42\/2025<\/strong>, with the aim of receiving input from society and the electricity sector in Brazil to improve the rules for connecting electric vehicle chargers to the power distribution grid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative seeks to modernize the regulatory framework<\/strong> and align it with the rapid growth of electromobility in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The consultation was officially published on December 9, 2025<\/strong>, and will remain open for contributions until March 2026<\/strong>, marking a key step in adapting the Brazilian electricity system to the new consumption patterns associated with electric mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aligned Regulation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The proposal<\/a><\/strong> submitted for consultation was prepared by ANEEL <\/strong>technical teams, based on information provided by energy distributors, contributions from other players in the sector, and the results obtained in electric charging pilot projects already implemented in Brazil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main focus is to make the connection process more efficient, reduce regulatory friction, and provide greater clarity to companies<\/strong>, charging infrastructure operators, and end consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the advance of electric vehicles, connecting charging points to the grid has become critical to ensuring the orderly and safe expansion of electromobility, especially in high-demand urban areas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Studies conducted by the Energy Research Company<\/strong> (EPE) indicate that the demand for electricity associated with electric vehicles will grow exponentially over the next decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the development of public charging infrastructure is not advancing at the same pace, which could become an obstacle to the widespread adoption of this technology in Brazil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Given this scenario, ANEEL <\/strong>is opening<\/a><\/strong> the regulatory debate with the aim of identifying the main bottlenecks, assessing the current limitations of the regulatory framework<\/strong>, and defining how regulation can drive the advancement of electromobility, rather than hinder it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Open Dialogue<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In this context, the regulation of grid connection becomes a strategic element in ensuring that the electrical infrastructure can keep pace with the growth of the electric vehicle fleet without compromising the reliability of the system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the opening of Public Consultation No. 42\/2025<\/strong>, ANEEL <\/strong>seeks to broaden the dialogue with society, the electricity sector, and electromobility stakeholders, ensuring that the new rules reflect market realities and technological developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal is to build a regulatory framework that offers greater legal certainty, operational efficiency, and predictability<\/strong> for consumers, companies, and distributors alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative also aims to ensure that regulation actively contributes to the modernization of the electricity grid<\/strong>, preparing it for greater electrification of transport in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ANEEL<\/strong>‘s Public Consultation will be open for contributions from December 11, 2025<\/strong>, to March 10, 2026<\/strong>. Contributions can be sent directly to the official email address provided by the regulator: cp042_2025@aneel.gov.br<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The results of this process will be fundamental in defining the future rules for connecting electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Brazil <\/strong>and in consolidating a regulatory environment that favors the sustainable growth of electromobility in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
