In an event held in the capital of Atl\u00e1ntico department, Colombia’s Minister of Transport, Mar\u00eda Fernanda Rojas<\/strong>, announced the official launch of “Ruta-E: Clean Energy in Motion,”<\/strong> the first initiative of its kind in the country aimed at creating an electric corridor for freight vehicles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project will connect Bogot\u00e1, Barranquilla and Cartagena<\/strong> along a stretch of more than 1,200 kilometers<\/strong>, consolidating one of the most important commercial routes in the country under a vision of clean, modern, intermodal mobility<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to data from the Transport Ministry, the proposed corridor will run through the country’s three largest cities, where approximately 22% of the cargo<\/strong> moving across national territory currently circulates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative not only seeks to promote the use of electric freight vehicles<\/strong>, but also to integrate roads, ports, railways and the Magdalena River, under a scheme that will modernize Colombia’s logistics system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal is to implement sustainable infrastructure along one of the country’s busiest routes, improving freight transport efficiency, reducing operating costs<\/strong>, and strengthening Colombia’s economic competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Barranquilla: A Logistics and Energy Hub for the Country<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The choice of Barranquilla as the venue for the official launch was no coincidence. During her speech, Minister Mar\u00eda Fernanda Rojas<\/strong> highlighted the strategic role that the capital of Atl\u00e1ntico plays in Colombia’s logistics development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Barranquilla is showing why it is one of Colombia’s great logistics hubs. Here we have ports, rivers, roads, airport infrastructure, and now also the projects that will lead the energy transition in transportation<\/strong>,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our purpose is clear: move more cargo, reduce costs, generate jobs, and build a more competitive and sustainable logistics system for the country,”<\/strong> added Minister Rojas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The corridor will link Bogot\u00e1 with Cartagena and Barranquilla, consolidating a development axis that, according to government projections, will enable the decarbonization of heavy transport<\/strong> \u2014 one of the sectors that contributes most to polluting emissions and fossil fuel consumption \u2014 aligning with the climate and sustainability goals promoted by the national administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

International Partnerships and Key Players<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The development of “Ruta-E: Clean Energy in Motion”<\/strong> would not be possible without the coordination of multiple public and private sector actors and international cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister of Transport explained that the project will be carried out in partnership with Calstart<\/strong> and Drive to Zero<\/strong>, international organizations specialized in logistics and sustainable transport solutions that support countries in their transition to zero\u2011emission mobility systems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These entities will collaborate in seeking strategic partners to facilitate the purchase of electric freight vehicles and the installation of charging stations<\/strong> along the more than 1,200 kilometers of the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the initiative will involve distributors, transport companies, energy operators, road concessionaires, international cooperation agencies, and various public sector entities. Collaboration among all these actors will be essential<\/strong> to build the necessary infrastructure and ensure the efficient operation of the electric corridor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
