However, private sector companies and the public administration are implementing plans and alliances to mitigate the adverse effects on the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the case of the electric vehicle supplier VEMO and the Uber mobility platform, which announced a partnership to increase the fleet of cars with this technology throughout the Aztec metropolis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially, both companies have agreed to include 250 cars during the first quarter of 2022, which will have the capacity to reduce an average of 5,000 tons of carbon emissions into the atmosphere each year, equivalent to planting 250,000 trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative seeks to comply with key aspects set out under the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), among which are: affordable and clean energy, health and well-being, sustainable cities and communities, climate action and partnerships to achieve the goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Aligned with the Public Sector<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Uber and VEMO&#8217;s proposal comes days after Mexico City Mayor, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, announced that 20 million pesos will be invested to create a testing and design laboratory for 100% electric vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the Mexican government formed the &#8220;Mexico-US working group for transport electrification&#8221; among requests from the main car producers to invest in infrastructure, renewable energies and regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this regard, Gretta Gonz\u00e1lez, General Manager of Ridesharing for Uber in Mexico, highlighted that the alliance with VEMO also seeks to be in sync with the vision of the Mexico City government to promote a more sustainable and comprehensive mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our task is to provide more and better mobility solutions for people&#8217;s daily lives, including access to cleaner and more sustainable options without necessarily representing an additional cost,&#8221; she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gonz\u00e1lez reaffirmed the commitment of Uber to become a zero-emissions platform on a global scale, promoting the democratization of clean technologies, offering greener, more comfortable and safer mobility alternatives for users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roberto Rocha, CEO of VEMO, expressed his satisfaction with the announcement of the start of this pilot program with Uber to advance the goal of positioning the company as the ideal partner for organizations and individuals in the transition to clean mobility.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mexico City has 9.2 million inhabitants, some 35 thousand industries, 4 million vehicles and a floating population of 5 million people per day.
