Manuel Montoya Ortega, CEO of the Nuevo Leon Automotive Cluster (CLAUT), said that the electromobility Hub is accelerating with the arrival of Tesla suppliers that manufacture some specific parts for electric cars.
In an interview with the local newspaper El Economista, 47% of new automotive investments are related to electromobility projects.
Montoya explained that the first step is the manufacture of components. “That is moving second and third tier suppliers (Tier 2 and 3) to be electromobility suppliers, and some are starting to make some specific parts for electric.”

Technological impact
The general director of the Cluster also highlighted that the CLAUT’s Driven Center is also working on some component projects for electric vehicles requested by affiliated companies.
He detailed that they are serving engineering and developing capabilities, not only in mechanical components, but also in electronics and software.
He added that when the electric vehicle market in Mexico develops, brands of electric fuel cells will begin to arrive. However, as long as electric cars are not sold, there will be no interest in these battery chargers.
In Nuevo León, some manufacturers of batteries for electric vehicles have already arrived, “but it is still slow, because the North American market has not yet fully adopted this type of car,” he said.
