Alliance between Metro de Medellin and Daviplata Provides Life Quality through Integrated and Efficient Transportation

The importance of life quality for users through an integrated and efficient public transportation was a relevant topic in the “Latam Mobility: Colombia 2023.”

Carlos Ortiz, Business Manager of Metro de Medellín, and Margarita Henao, CEO of Daviplata from Banco Davivienda, led the presentation “Opportunities for City Services Around Mobility“, in which they highlighted how public-private partnerships achieve a positive impact on transportation and people’s wellbeing.

Through a joint effort, Metro de Medellin and Daviplata explained the process of digitalization of the city’s public transport tickets, which led users to have a fast and comfortable travel experience through a quality service.

It is worth noting that Daviplata is a digital product of Banco Davivienda, which allows users to easily and freely manage their money from their cell phone without the need to have a bank account or debit card.

“We have the Metro culture as core and right, everything we do is around the welfare of people and their relationship with the environment. This is urban mobility in action,” said Ortiz.

During the presentation, Henao revealed that the process led by Daviplata to make the transition from physical to digital ticketing through the “Cívica” application was fundamental to overcome the obstacles in trips that were very short in trajectory, but became long because of the lines that users had to make to use the means of transport.

He highlighted that the app already has 500,000 registered users in the transportation system that covers Medellín and the Aburrá Valley.

“We already have a QR code to make it easier for citizens. It is of great value that a financial entity such as Daviplata supports transportation and offers solutions to people through the integration of different means of transportation.”

Henao and Ortiz concluded that the quality and efficiency offered by Medellin‘s public transportation also presents an alternative to enjoy the city.
