BYD consolidated its position as the leading brand in electric vehicle sales in Colombia during the year 2023. According to ANDEMOS data, 3,718 zero-emission vehicles were registered last year, an increase of 13.6% compared to 2022.
The Chinese manufacturer remained in the lead with 714 units. This success is attributed to its varied portfolio of models, the favorable price/product ratio and the support offered by Motorysa, the brand’s importer.
BYD managed to sell 290 units, an impressive increase of 974.1%. The Top 5 also included Dongfeng and JAC, brands that in addition to offering cars, SUVs or pick-ups, have also been gaining presence with their 100% electric cargo vehicles.

Its portfolio in Colombia currently includes the Dolphin, Han and Seal cars, the T3 van and the Tang EV and Yuan Plus EV SUVs. Precisely, the latter was the brand’s best seller in the country.
Another well-received model is the Dolphin hatchback, to the point that its sales increased by 200% compared to 2022.
While these references accounted for a significant portion of the total number of registrations, the luxurious and powerful Seal and Tang EV should also be highlighted, which helped boost the brand’s figures.
Another brand that stands out in the market is Zhidou, with its D2S quadricycle. Sales of this model doubled by 97.2% versus 2022.
The podium is completed by MG, which decided to change its strategy in the country and turn fully into the electric vehicle segment.
