Volvo and SQM: Key Alliance to Develop Electromobility in Chile

Chile closed 2023 with important news in its role as a key player in driving electromobility in the region.

At the end of last year, Volvo Chile launched its line of 100% electric trucks in Chile and the Americas, becoming a strategic ally for the mining and freight transport industry in the country.

The project adds to the great initiatives for the adoption of clean technologies in trucks. The vehicles not only represent a shift towards more sustainable mobility, but also underscore Volvo‘s commitment to sustainability.

Alliance with a Mining Focus

Volvo‘s arrival in Chile starts successfully together with a global mining company: Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM), one of the world’s leading lithium producers.

This strategic alliance with SQM complements Volvo Chile‘s purpose of contributing to electric mobility in the mining sector, highlighting the importance of public-private partnerships in building a greener world.

In this regard, Roberto Muñoz, Post Sales and Antofagasta Branch Manager, emphasized that the collaboration with SQM promotes the development of a more sustainable and responsible future for future generations.

“Together we are moving the world in which we want to live, where integrated transportation solutions can advance in the country, allowing us to offer technologies that become a real contribution to the development of the sector and the economy,” said the executive in statements reported by G5News.

Chile on Latam Mobility’s Agenda

In August, Latam Mobility, the largest sustainable mobility community in Latin America, will once again arrive in Santiago for its 2024 meeting.

It will be two days that will bring together the most prominent industry leaders, along with public sector personalities, to offer their perspectives on advances in sustainable mobility, electromobility and sustainability.
