The commercial division of Ford, Ford Pro, has been chosen by the city of Dallas, the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States, to collaborate in meeting its climate goals.
In response, efforts are being made to improve air quality by transitioning to an electric vehicle fleet by 2040, resulting in a 10-year collaboration agreement to expand and manage electric vehicle charging infrastructure for the city’s fleets.
This agreement involves the installation of Ford Pro chargers at municipal worksites, as well as the implementation of Ford Pro’s smart charging software.

Through this integrated software and hardware solution, Dallas will be able to customize and efficiently manage the charging performance of its electric vehicles, ensuring they are ready to work when needed.
Dallas City Commitment
In 2020, Dallas approved a comprehensive Environmental and Climate Action Plan to reduce carbon emissions, which includes measures such as installing electric vehicle charging points throughout the city and incorporating light electric vehicles into the municipal fleet, which consists of 5,400 vehicles.
“The adoption of electric vehicles is increasing in state and local government fleets, and we are proud to offer smart charging software and hardware to help electrify one of the largest cities in the Lone Star State in one of the largest metropolitan areas in the United States,” said Ted Cannis, CEO of Ford Pro.
“The impact that software can have on electric vehicle charging can be substantial, helping public agencies like the city of Dallas not only manage charging infrastructure today but also determine where chargers may be needed in the future,” he concluded.
