50% of Automotive Projects in Nuevo León are Related to Electromobility

The Secretary of Economy of Nuevo León, Iván Rivas Rodríguez, highlighted that the state is on the right track to become an important electromobility Hub, with 85 suppliers for this sector.

He explained that supplying is the most important part of why Nuevo León is becoming a major electric mobility complex. “Yes it has to do with the assemblers, there is Kia Mexico that in the future maybe tells us that it will make its electric cars.”

“Navistar produces electric tractor-trailers and there is also Marco Polo and BYD that manufacture electric buses, there is already electric production, but the most important thing is the value chain,” said Rivas.

Tesla’s Arrival

The official pointed out that Tesla had 60 suppliers, but in total there are 85 for the electromobility sector, which evidences the accelerated growth in the state.

He detailed that 76% of what Nuevo León captures from nearshoring, has to do with electromobility suppliers.

“From October 2021 to May of this year, 72 new investments from the automotive sector have been confirmed, more than 50% of these projects are linked to electromobility in monetary terms mean more than 20 billion dollars and more than 40,000 formal jobs that will be generated,” he said.

The official offered details during a mobility meeting held in the state of Nuevo León.
