This travel has meant a considerable reduction in the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2), equivalent to the planting of 2,433 young trees and 792 mature trees.

In addition, the emission of 25,911 tons of CO2 has been avoided, a significant step towards the neutralization of the carbon footprint.

Environmentally Friendly

The Mayor’s Office of Cali explains that, to put the environmental impact into perspective, it’s useful to understand the equivalences in terms of trees planted.

A young tree can absorb about 10,000 grams of CO2 per year, while a mature tree can absorb up to 30,000 grams per year.

The equivalent of planting 2,433 young trees implies a total reduction of 24.33 tons of CO2, while the 792 mature trees are equivalent to the absorption of 23.76 tons of CO2.

Overall, the environmental impact of these actions amounts to 48.09 tons of CO2 per year absorbed by the equivalent trees.

The 11 electric vehicles that have generated this environmental impact are distributed among various government agencies.
