The number of electric vehicle charging stations in China stood at 11.43 million at the end of September this year, up 49.6% year-on-year, the latest government data reported by Xinhua news agency showed.
Among them, about 3.33 million were public charging facilities, while 8.1 million were private, according to data from the National Energy Administration.
Considering the total of 28.09 million new energy vehicles registered in the country at present, there is one charging station for every 2.46 vehicles, the data showed.

2024 Performance
In the first nine months of 2024, the country reported a net increase of 2.84 million charging stations, while the amount of vehicle charging totaled 66.67 billion kWh, up 12.4% year-on-year, the data showed.
The government agency said the growing network of charging points is providing services on more roads across the country.
At the same time, charging points in towns and cities are growing to reach 417,000 units by the end of September.
The Chinese market is currently experiencing uncertainty due to the tariffs approved by the European Union of up to 35.3% on imports of electric vehicles from the Asian country.
According to the EFE news agency, the Community Executive will apply a tariff of 35.3% to the Chinese manufacturer SAIC (MG and Maxus, among other brands), 18.8% to Geely and 17% to BYD, for a maximum of five years.
The measure will also affect Western companies producing in China, such as the American Tesla, to which a tariff of 7.8% will be applied, while others that have cooperated with the commission in the investigation it carried out before approving the tariffs will be charged a rate of 20.7%.
