Sales of electric cars increased by 90% in October compared to the same period of the previous year, according to a report by the National Automotive Association of Chile (ANAC).
The association explained that the demand for this type of model soared in Chile in the tenth month of the year, with 2,097 units registered. In cumulative terms, from January to October, 14,083 units with this type of zero and low emission engines have been sold.
“Which represents an increase of 98.2% compared to the same period of the previous year,” said the association.

The Chilean National Automotive Association argued that “the growing diversity of the offer so far this year, together with the attractive commercial strategies of the automotive brands to massify these technologies, have driven the arrival of more models and electrified versions with increasingly competitive prices.”

Within the zero and low emission vehicles, the category with the highest sales is that of conventional or self-recharging hybrids, which grew by 57.4% in October, with 609 units sold.
In the first ten months of the year, 5,343 vehicles using this type of energy have been registered. In second place are the micro-hybrids (MHEV) or also called Mild Hybrid, which increased their sales by 126.6% in October, with 859 marketed.
So far this year, 4,536 registrations have been recorded in Chile. In third place are 100% electric vehicles, which reported 530 sales in the tenth month of the year and 3,195 accumulated marketings, with a growth of 102.3% in October, compared to the same period of 2023.
In fourth and fifth position, plug-in hybrids (94 sales in October) and extended-range electric vehicles (5 sales in October).
