Puebla, Mexico, closes 2024 as one of the states with the most progress in electromobility, boasting a car assembly plant and educational programs focused on professionalization in the field.
This was revealed by the Secretary of Economy, Alejandra Montiel Sánchez, during her appearance before the Economic Development Commission of the local Congress.
“We have the most important electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Mexico,” said the official in statements reported by local press.

She pointed out that the state has a Mobility Center, the first of its kind for sustainable mobility. Additionally, she stated that Puebla is the first state to have an electric car assembly plant.
Educational Initiatives
She noted that Puebla is a pioneer in specialized training, offering a program in Electromobility Technology at the Technological University of Puebla (UTP).
The program was created in 2023, along with seven other study programs, and is currently training the first generation of future specialists.
Electromobility is being driven in Mexico by both the public and private sectors. Recently, the President-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced the creation of a Mexican brand called Olinia, aimed at providing citizens access to mobility through clean energy.
On November 6, she stated that they are working with public higher education institutions and private companies on the patent for the car.
Regarding investments, the Secretary noted that Audi announced an investment of one billion euros in its plant in San José Chiapa.
